if you have a sewing machine,
you should help out with this, and if you don't have a sewing machine. do anything you can. this is something i feel I can finally and tangibly do to help my brothers and sisters suffering in haiti besides pray, hope, and donate money.
susan says it only takes about a half hr to make one dress, but last time I made one (last june) it took a little less than an hour. my goal by the end of making a couple, maybe a dozen? will be to make one in under 25 minutes.
wanna help out too? check out the post explaining it all.
here's the pillowcase dress tutorial.

Tuesday
looking for purple leather
can't wait to make some of these for jane, even though she hasn't started crawling yet.
who knows when that blessed day will be.
i'm okay with her only being able to sit at the moment.
Friday
back at it
I've slowly but surely been doing more these days besides spending all my time with my sweet little girl and trying to tread water. I've had quite a few drowning dreams in the past two months, I wonder if that means I feel overwhelmed? Anyway, I have fun things on my list of creations I'd like to do. Here's what I'm up to today.
I made another one for halloween, but I need to get black beads first.

about to pop
I hope this is my last post before the baby comes. 4 days overdue now!
I finished her quilt, and i love it.
I used a running stitch by hand along each seam, and I love it in all it's simplicity; especially after a run through the washer and dryer.
(the lion was crocheted by my mom, the octopus by my sister and the cupcake by Lan)
Friday
not alone
i'm so happy that i'm not alone in my love/obsession for the wizarding world.

i'm such a copycat

i see things i adore, but can't necessarily buy; so I just copy.
I'm sorry to all those hard working artists that i imitate, but at least i give props where they're deserved. So if you'd rather buy than imitate like me, visit leahkl's etsy shop and buy one of her adorable quilt toys made with the most wonderful vintage fabric.
i made this for a friend who is having a little boy a few weeks after me. Who knows, we may be having our babies at the same time! It's not made with vintage fabric, but i still love it; "moose" snout and all.
Thursday
for caro (cont'd)

a poppy (i'm a copycat - the design is from another hankie i saw on etsy) and her initials; yes that's supposed to be an L...
I also sent along these hankies, and a polaroid camera i found at my local DI for mere pennies. My sister reminded me of her lust for one, so I sent it along for her birthday! she liked it a lot :)
happy birthday caro!

Tuesday
for caro
my cuzie finally received her birthday present, so i can post about it now!
it's a latte/coffee mug holder; just one of the things i sent in her little birthday box.
Sunday
leave it to etsy...

i thought i was so original today when I was sitting in church and the thought came to me, 'i should totally make a mobile out of yo-yos!' of course then I googled "yoyo mobile" and found that someone already had that idea. and it's beautiful.
i'm continually amazed at the creative abilities of humans. we're awesome.

flowers & friends

last weekend I visited Zelma, my 80+ yr old neighbor across the street. She's as spry as any 20 year old, just a bit slower, and clever as ever. She also loves flowers, a fetish we both share; the difference is she has a yard to grow them in. since hub mows her lawn every weekend, I get all the flowers I could want for our small apartment, and he gets large packages of cookies and other various goodies that he really doesn't need.

With this last bushel, I put together a little necklace with the stray blossoms that would fall. I love the delicacy of small blossoms, and I'm sure you could figure this little craft out yourself. They mightn't have lasted for very long, but they were a small enjoyment for the day.

I had a little friend come over for the afternoon and we made one for her as well.
This may be off subject, but when I showed her my bedroom she exclaimed when she saw how large my bed was, "It's like the Princess and the pea bed!" Yes, I am a princess.
